Iron Belle Trail update: Retaining walls are being finished and there is some concrete work to do. There is approximately two weeks of work left on the project.
Iron Belle Trail is part of the Statewide Iron Belle Trail System. The trail system is funded by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources Trust Funds, Michigan Department of Transportation and FHWA Transportation Alternative Funds, plus local match contributions. The total bid price is $1,541,763.94 by Elmer’s Crane and Dozer Company. The segment currently being worked on is located between Four Mile Road and the City of Grayling. The contractor is presently working on rough grading the trail and performing earthwork prior to placing gravel on the grade. The finished path will have an asphalt surface and is proposed to be completed near the first week of July 2022.
